Scraps: Using the Draw Pull and Rolling Mill
Join celebrated metalsmith Agnes Seebass for a one-day workshop on how to turn your silver or gold scraps back into wire or sheet. She will go through the process of making and an ingot and then using the rolling mill and draw pull to create wire or sheet.
Pearl Stringing
Learn pearl stringing from world-recognized designer (and Austin local!) Matt Harris. You’ll learn the traditional Chinese method of stringing on silk cord, how to knot, how to finish with French wire, how to decide which size thread to use and how to plan a pearl necklace layout. These are the exact skills and methods Matt was trained on and uses on his finished pieces. Matt will bring pearls and clasps from his personal collection. Just choose your strand and your clasp and if you finish in time you’ll be able to wear your necklace home! If not, you’ll have the skills necessary to finish stinging your necklace from home.

Micro-Welder Class: Permanent Jewelry

Tuition: $60 Tuition + $17.50 Materials Fee (tax included in materials price)
This course will teach students the basics of how micro welders work, go over how to use our PUK III micro-welder safely and 2 common ways the welder is used – closing jump rings and welding connections for permanent jewelry. Students will leave class certified to rent time to use our welder and with a permanent sterling silver or gold-filled bracelet.

Benchwork Basics: Beginner Jewelry

Tuition: $720 class fee + $100 materials fee — all sterling silver; tax included
Learn the basics of jewelry making in this 6 sessions course. Techniques covered: sawing basic shapes, filing, sanding by hand and with the flex shaft, sizing a ring, forming, dapping a ring to flare, polishing, sizing a cabochon for a bezel, soldering it to a backplate, granulation, and bezel setting.
This course helps students gain confidence and independently execute basic jewelry designs.

Silver Stacking Rings

Make your own sterling silver stacking rings—no experience needed! You’ll solder, shape, and finish three rings (two round, one twisted) using real metalsmithing tools and a torch. Come get hands-on with metal and leave with rings you made yourself!
Beginner: No experience needed. The minimum age requirement is 16 and above.
Lapidary
Learn to cut rough stones into beautiful cabochons that you can set into jewelry. Each class is designed to teach how to cut rough and use a series of lapidary wheels to shape and buff the stone out.
Our lapidary classes cap at 3 students per session so the class is very personal with the instructor similar to a private lesson.

Stamped Silver Charm

Join Skyler for a quick after noon workshop. Make a personalized charm out of scrap silver pieces, choose from our extensive stamp collection and create a little charm for you. We will have excess material available if you want to make more! $10 for each additional charm. This class is perfect for dipping your toes into the world of silversmithing or just a fun afternoon.

Set in Stone: Bead Setting

Join jeweler Donni Jarvis for a weekend deep dive into the classic technique of bead setting. This hands-on workshop will guide you through setting a 3.5mm cubic zirconia (CZ) into brass using traditional tools and techniques that add sparkle and craftsmanship to any jewelry piece.

Silver Hoops
Join Skyler for an evening of creation, learn the basics of hoop making and work with sterling silver! This is the perfect way to expand your existing skills or jump into jewelry making in general. In this class you will explore how to form a strip of half round wire into cuffed hoops. You will take 3 hours to understand the basics of making a hoop, including sizing, soldering an earring post, and finishing.

Looking to improve your jewelry skills? This bezel setting class is the perfect place to start. In just four hours, you’ll learn how to create a simple bezel from scratch and finish your own handmade ring or pendant.
You’ll work with oval cabochon stones that range from 1–3 cm in diameter. At every step, you’ll gain essential skills and leave with a completed piece of jewelry.

Hey guys, we heard your qualms! We wanted to make the casting process more accessible and that is why our casting instructor Jason Spencer, for the first time ever, will be teaching a night-time course. In this course, he will cover the basics of lost wax carving, working with hard wax only using a subtractive method. You will cast your own pieces once, learning the investment and pouring process. He will end the course with basic polishing.
