What You’ll Learn
Throughout this three-hour session, you’ll be introduced to working with gold-filled. First, you’ll explore texturing options for a more personal touch. Next, you’ll measure and cut 14 gauge gold-filled wire based on your ring size. Then, you’ll learn to shape each piece using mandrels and pliers to prep for soldering.
After that, you’ll solder your rings closed using a torch — an essential skill in metalsmithing. Finally, you’ll move on to polishing techniques to clean up your joins giving the rings a final tumble.
You’ll make two classic round wire rings and one square wire ring, giving you the chance to experiment with form and texture while still mastering the basics. As a result, you’ll leave with not just finished jewelry, but also the confidence to solder gold-filled wire on your own!
