Create Your Own Sterling Silver Stacking Rings
Looking for a fun and beginner-friendly way to dive into jewelry making? In this hands-on stacking rings class, you’ll create your own set of sterling silver rings from scratch.
Instructor: Zach Wright
Dates & Time: Mondays, July 7th | August 4th | August 18th | 6:00 pm–9:00 pm
Cost: $105 (all materials included; tax included in materials price)
Skill Level: Beginner. Ages 16 and up.
Not only will you leave with beautiful, wearable pieces — you’ll also gain practical skills that can be applied to future jewelry projects.
Whether you’re new to metalwork or just want to try something creative, this class offers a great starting point.
What You’ll Learn
Throughout this three-hour session, you’ll be introduced to foundational techniques used in professional jewelry studios. First, you’ll measure and cut sterling silver wire based on your ring size. Next, you’ll learn to shape each piece using mandrels and pliers.
After that, you’ll solder your rings closed using a torch — an essential skill in metalsmithing. Then, you’ll move on to filing and polishing techniques to clean up your joins and add a finish. Finally, you’ll explore texturing options for a more personal touch.
You’ll make two classic round wire rings and one twisted wire ring, giving you the chance to experiment with form and texture while still mastering the basics. As a result, you’ll leave with not just finished jewelry, but also confidence at the bench.
Take the Next Step
This stacking rings class is an excellent introduction, but there’s so much more to explore. If you’re feeling inspired, we highly recommend taking Benchwork Basics next. That class builds on what you’ve learned here and introduces bezel setting, sawing, granulation, and more.
All materials are provided — just bring your curiosity and leave with rings you made yourself!
