About the Donation
This class will give 25% of proceeds towards Casa Marianella, a charity that provides safe housing and much needed supplies to displaced immigrants. Your spot in the class is a $90 donation and if we get a full class we can donate a total of $630 to them!
Check out Casa Marianella page to see what they do for the community and how you can contribute to their cause.
What you’ll make in the class
Marcela will teach students how to create a wax ring in the first two 3 hour session using traditional carving and modeling techniques and professional tools such as burs, files and jewelers wax. Over the next few days your ring will be cast via the “lost wax” method and on the third class day you will receive a solid metal cast of your ring. You will focus on bench work and learn sprue clean up, and finishing techniques. This is the perfect beginner course for someone who wants to learn the wax processes and jewelry finishing techniques!
What’s in my kit?
The kit fee includes
- Wax ring blank
- Casting Costs
- Bronze Casting Grain
- Use of polishing tools and mandrels
Kit does not cover silver casting grain, if you wish to cast in silver this would be a separate purchase through us. If you bring your own silver casting grain, we ask that it be 925 sterling. If it is scrap please be sure their is no solder present. We recommend getting at least 1 troy oz. If you have questions about purchasing this you can email info@thejewelerssaw.org.
