Discover the Joy of Jewelry Making
Come into the studio for a fun and creative simple earrings workshop! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own pair of lightweight, textured metal earrings using a variety of tools and techniques. Whether you’re brand new to jewelry or just curious about trying something hands-on, this class is a great way to explore the possibilities of metalwork in just a few hours.
What You’ll Learn
During this three-hour session, you’ll follow a step-by-step process to complete your earrings from raw materials to ready-to-wear. First, you’ll learn how texturing techniques with the rolling mill, using both texture plates, paper stencils, and found objects to create unique patterns. Then, you’ll move on to cut metal shapes using disc cutters and the hydraulic press.
Next, you’ll polish and if you like patina the metal to help the texture stand out. After that, you’ll learn how to shape and attach your own earring wires, finishing your project with a personal touch. By the end of class, you’ll have completed a stylish pair of earrings and built confidence in the studio.
Keep Learning and Creating
This simple earrings workshop is perfect on its own, but it also prepares you for more advanced skills. For example, you can follow it up by learning to use the micro-welder — a great tool for permanently closing jump rings without soldering.
