Start Making Jewelry!

You will create a mosaic-like pattern where the metals exist alongside each other rather than one on top of the other. You will join separate pieces of sheet metal to form a new, unified surface. In the process, you’ll become a sawing and soldering savant!

On day one, you will get familiar with designing a pair of earrings, a pendant, or a keychain using the mixed metal puzzling technique. After your design has been approved by Griselda, you will begin sawing the metal. By the end of day one, you should have most, if not all, of your pieces sawed out!

Day two will cover complex soldering and finishing. You may still have some sawing to do! This is a sawing- and soldering-heavy class, so if you’re wanting to learn more about complex cuts in sheet metal and sweat soldering, this class is for you.

You’ll learn: sawing, soldering, filing, sanding, polishing, and patina.

Materials in your kit:

  •  Copper and brass 20 Gauge  2×2″ (2 each for practice and for any mistakes)
  • Access to studio materials: solder, saw blades, files etc.
  • Silver is available for purchase: APX. – $100

Keep creating:

This class is the perfect fit for people wanting to learn the basics and create on of a kind pieces. If you cant commit to benchwork basics for weeks at a time, this class paired with our bezel setting class is the perfect combo for beginners!
