A 10-Week Metalsmithing Journey for Ages 11-17

Tuesday’s | September 1st- November 3rd | 4 PM – 6 PM| 10 Sessions
Tuition: $700 ($600 base + $100 Materials Fee- tax included in materials price)
What will you learn?
In this 10 week course you will become a metalsmith! You will face the fundamentals, learning the science behind the metal, and developing technical skills within a creative environment. By the end of the 10 weeks students will have a gallery ready piece that will be displayed at our end of semester show on November 10th at the Wally Workmen Gallery. Check out the gallery here!
Weeks 1-2: Studio Safety. Tool literacy & experimenting with materials: shaping, annealing, texturizing.
Weeks 3-5: Design & Fabrication. Drafting personal themes and metal fabrication. Hammering, shaping and soldering.
Weeks 6-8: Advanced Skills. Balling, wax carving, and developing focal collection pieces.
Weeks 9-10: Curation. Polishing, bio labels, and discussing exhibition display arrangements.
