Course Overview
In this 3 day course you will go through the basics of mold making, and casting in order to reproduce an object. You will learn how to use RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) to create silicone molds of an existing object you provide. This can be a piece you’ve made or an object you love. The mold frame provided is 1 inch thick, please keep this in mind when deciding your object (see dimensions in the kit section of description). Once the object is molded Jason will explain the process of opening up the mold and making a successful wax injection. After creating successful injections, Jason will explain the investing process and prepare your molds to be cast. You will learn operation of a propane oxygen torch in order to melt the metal of your choice and pour it to cast your pieces. Metal is sold separately based on weight, we have sterling silver and bronze in studio. You’re welcome to bring in your own casting grain. He will then explain the finishing process once your reproduced pieces are cast.
