Discover the Art of Fold Forming

Join us for an inspiring evening with artist and metalsmith Shalena White as she introduces you to the process of fold forming. This dynamic metalworking technique transforms flat sheet metal into organic, sculptural forms that mimic nature’s beauty. Through hammering, annealing, and unfolding, you’ll see your piece take shape as it begins to resemble a natural leaf.

Fold forming allows makers to explore movement and texture in metal, offering endless opportunities for creativity. It’s an accessible technique that yields impressive results, even for those new to jewelry making.

Create, Texture, and Color

During this four-hour workshop, Shalena will demonstrate how to fold and forge your metal, add textures using hammers and tools, and apply patinas to bring depth and color to your design. You’ll learn how to shape your leaf into a wearable pendant, decorative ornament, or small sculpture—whatever inspires you most.

In addition, Shalena will share how she uses fold forming in her own studio practice, showing how organic forms can be integrated beautifully into modern jewelry design.

A Perfect Fall Workshop

This class is great for beginners or those wanting to expand their metalworking skills. It’s a fun and rewarding way to explore a new forming technique while celebrating the changing season. Whether you’re making a gift for a loved one or a new addition to your own collection, you’ll leave with a new skill to bring into your metalsmithing practice!

Come enjoy a creative evening, connect with other makers, and experience the beauty of fold forming firsthand!
